KAR Competition

A dynamic panel of three leading industry professionals will be at each event, providing you with valuable feedback to take your dance performance and technique to the next level. Our judges are highly sought after professionals who are not regularly used in the Australian dance competition scene thus providing invaluable feedback that cannot be found at any other event. Each performance receives a designer trophy plus additional special awards to accompany their achievements.

KAR Dance Convention

Our dance convention will offer five exhilarating classes taught by four professional teachers in each level, plus a bonus complimentary Q&A session with the All-Star convention line-up. Classes will include Jazz, Contemporary/Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Competition turns, tricks and progressions! These dance workshops are fun, inspiring, and educational for all dancers.

In August Kids Artistic Revue, Inc. (KAR) commenced proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia against Global Events and Entertainment Pty Ltd (Global Events), more commonly known as “Showcase Australian Dance Championships” and “Hollywood Bound” as well as its director, Peter Oxford.

The proceedings alleged that Global Events and Mr Oxford engaged in misleading and deceptive conduct in breach of the Australian Competition and Consumer Act 2010 by publishing statements about KAR that KAR claimed to be false.

The statements that were made about KAR’s entry into the Australian market were extremely disappointing. In KAR’s opinion, having more events in Australia benefits the industry and the children who will have more opportunities to dance. KAR welcomes competition and wider availability of different events for our budding dancers.

We are pleased that the Court proceedings have now resolved and Global Events:

1. has acknowledged that the statements it made about KAR were completely false and unreservedly apologising to KAR and our staff; and

2. is paying a portion of the legal fees that KAR has incurred in order to properly defend its reputation and its case.

“APOLOGY TO KIDS ARTISTIC REVUE, INC

In June 2015 Global Events & Entertainment Pty Ltd (Global Events) issued a number of public statements on behalf of Showcase Australian Dance Championships and Hollywood Bound.   Those statements made representations about Kids Artistic Revue, Inc (KAR), an American Dance Company.

The statements and representations that Global Events made about KAR were completely false. Global Events withdraws all of its statements and representations about KAR and unconditionally and unreservedly apologises to KAR and its staff.

We wish all the KAR team the best of luck during their tour of Australia and hope they enjoy the Australian hospitality of the dance community.

Karina Lawrence, our amazing Circle of Hope Dancers Foundation Australia Ambassador, will be joining us for a live presentation at the KAR Sydney competition on Saturday 19-09 at the 14:15 awards ceremony! We look forward to introducing you all to Circle of Hope and making an immediate impact on dancers, teachers, and choreographers in need in the Australian dance community! ‪

I’m Karina Lawrence. I’ve been dancing since the age of four and working in the entertainment industry from the age of eight. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2012 and just recently given my first all clear since relapsing with another found tumor. It has been the most challenging journey to date; yet Cancer has, in a strange way, healed me. I have had all the chemotherapy my body can take and recently radiation. It was during treatment I was blessed with the insight and awareness of my path, if I were to survive. To be able to give back to those that inspired me beyond words and raise awareness and much needed funds for childhood cancer. I am beyond thrilled to announce I am on the right path in joining such a wonderful and affective cause such as Dancers Against Cancer and The Circle Of Hope Dancers Foundation as the Australian Ambassador. I gratefully, recently experienced the Industry Dance Awards in LA, a cancer benefit show and am still beaming with the amazing people I met and shared such a life changing experience with. Until it happens to ‘us’ we don’t imagine the extent of how things can and do change. I believe united we stand and as a special friend once made me aware, a circle has no exits. A simple act of awareness and kindness can make all the difference and it was such a privilege to be part of this circle, with the dance community coming together, to make a difference to those dealing with this horrid disease. I’m very much honored and looking forward to assisting in being a voice for those warriors, who have already made such a difference to my life.

Additionally, “So You Think You Can Dance Australia” winner Michael Dameski will be attending and teaching master classes at the Melbourne, Canberra, and Perth KAR Dance Convention. Michael has been the recipient of numerous accolades and was a master teacher on LA Dance Magic’s 2015 tour. We look forward to seeing you at the KAR Dance Convention this fall!
